Giggs was hot as well............

There will be kittens

Some photos of Star feeling fat and hot (and pregnant).

Almond's first birthday

Thanks to Almond's owner for this photograph. She reports that Almond has learnt how to use the toilet, rather than a litter tray. What a clever cat!

Will there be kittens?

Hattie's daughter Star visited Gr. Ch. Brunnbäcken’s Leon over the weekend. After initial shyness they mated enthusiastically. If she is pregnant we can expect to see the first signs in early May. Paws crossed............

Update on Almond

Almond's new owner just sent me some new pictures of him. He must have learnt tops of doors and computer keyboards from the cats here but I'm really impressed to see him walking on a lead.

KITTEN NEWS

Both kittens have left home now, have new names, and are settling down with their new owners. As usual I'm missing them but their mum isn't that bothered.

So here is Almond, in London:

And here is Thomas Tallis, near Lancaster:

Kittens at 8 weeks

Lots of progress. The kittens are BOYS. Confirmed by the vet when they went for their first vaccinations. They weigh more than a kilo each. Star's mouth is recovered, and so have her nipples, probably because the kittens are more interested in solid food now. She is still very interested in the kittens though. They get thorough baths, and she attempts to drag them back when she thinks they have strayed too far. They are a bit big to be carried now so end up gripped by the neck and frogmarched.............

And a few weeks ago: Kitten with diamond on brow to left, kitten with stripe on right. "Stripe", (maybe he should be called "Comet") was first born and is a little heavier, more round headed, "Diamond" (maybe Nebula, or the name of a constellation?) has a more pointed face.

KIttens update

Just over three weeks old now, eyes open, and the biggest weighed 430 grams last night, nearly a pound. They can walk - or toddle - rather than crawling, and spend quite a lot of time exploring. Star has had a few health problems - her chin became swollen, perhaps because she spent so much time shredding the cardboard box for several days before and after the birth. Then she got a sore nipple, so off to the vets twice for antibiotics. Today the largest kitten managed to climb out of the box into the pen, which Star found quite disturbing. Just made a ramp so it will be able to get back in next time it does it. I've tried them with kitten milk on a saucer a couple of times, but Star has drunk it on their behalf.

This video shows them crawling at two weeks old.

***********Star's new kittens, born 11th-12th June, 2013***********

Yes, at last, more kittens
The father is Grand Champion Brunnbacken's Leon, the mother is Hattie's daughter, Adelfsh Hattie's-Star. Two usual Abys, and I haven't decided if they are boys or girls yet. More pictures to follow, but here they are at two days old, with their proud mother.

The colour difference between Giggs, a ticked tabby Asian, and the Abyssinians shows up well.
